Adrien Baut did his bachelor's at EPFL in the physics department, where he graduated in 2020. After that, he continued his physics education by joining the master's program from ETHZ the next semester. His focus has been on the fundamentals of solid state physics and semi-conductors with some additional lectures in sustainability and complex systems. He has done his master thesis in the Multiphase Thermofluidics and Surface Nanoengineering lab under the supervision of Dr. Ritwick Gosh and Prof. Thomas Schutzius. He started his PhD at the Human-centered Sensing Laboratory in november 2022 and works on developping new materials for environmental gas sensing applications. His research is at the intersection of physics, chemistry and device engineering where he combines both fundamental understanding and real-world applications.
