Johannes Burger

Johannes Burger earned his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2021 from Technical University Munich (TUM). Johannes focused on modelling and optimization of energy systems and the application of machine learning methods. During his studies, he worked on the optimization of regional multi-energy systems as a student assistant. 

Johannes finished with a thesis on the use of reinforcement learning to optimize smart charging schedules. Parallel to this, he studied Management and Technology at TUM, where he focused on optimization and simulation in operation research and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2021. 

In October 2021, Johannes joined both the Energy and Process Systems Engineering group and the Risk and Reliability Engineering Laboratory at ETH Zurich as a PhD student.
