Prof. em. Dr. Josef Reissner

Josef Reissner was Full Professor of Metallic Materials beginning in 1972 and in 1976 he became head of the Institute of Forming Technology at the ETH Zurich. He retired end of March 2004.

Prof. Reissner was born in 1939. He studied metallurgy, materials, and forming technology at the Montan University in Leoben, Austria, after which he went to Kloeckner, in Bremen, where he worked on the development of formable materials with high formatiblity. In 1965, he was appointed lecturer at the Technical College in Brugg-Windisch. At the same time, he directed the consulting services for materials and forming of an engineering office in Zurich.
