Student administration
Welcome to the D-MAVT student administration! We support the students in the Bachelor's programme in Mechanical Engineering and the Master's students in the five Master's programmes administered by the department.
The D-MAVT Student Administration in room LEE K208 offers students support in administrative issues and study planning:
- Information on administrative questions and processes related to the study programme
- Guidance on the course curriculum
- Administration of study performances
- Recognition of the Workshop Training / Industry Workshop
- Issuing of confirmations
- Issuing of transcripts/final transcript of records
- Verification of official requests for postponement of military and civilian service
The Director of Studies has overall responsibility for the degree programme and decides on exceptions.
Detailed information about the
- Bachelor’s programme: Study Guide (Download old regulations (PDF, 1.6 MB), Download new regulations as of HS22 (PDF, 3 MB)) and Bachelor's overview site.

Most important information in short
- The D-MAVT Student administration is responsible for administering the performance assessments.
- All results / grades, together with the number of ECTS achieved, are reported in myStudies under Transcript of records.
- Results of the examination blocks are released online after the Grading Conference; Download "Merkblatt für Notenkonferenzen" (PDF, 165 KB)
- After receiving the results, students have 30 days to request an appealable decree, if they believe that the results are unjustified. Afterwards, legal steps can be taken.
- The completed "external page Dienstverschiebungsformular für den AdA im Studium" needs to be verified by the D-MAVT Student Administration.
- Afterwards, the students must forward the request for postponement to the external page military authority of their place of residence.
- The application must be submitted to the military authority at least 14 weeks before the start of the military service.
The programme deadline applying to each particular student is displayed in myStudies under “Deadlines: last possible date”. It is the student’s responsibility to comply with the deadlines and to plan their curriculum accordingly.
If the compliance with a study deadline is at risk, further study planning must be discussed with the Student Administration in a personal interview.
If it is apparent during the meeting that an extension of the study deadline is needed, a request may be submitted to the Vice Rector.
After gaining all required credit points, students may file the degree request via myStudies.
In the case where an allocation of a performance assessment is not possible, the D-MAVT Student Administration can complete this retroactively.
The diploma requests are being processed at the end of each month. About 10 days later the diploma arrives by registered postal mail at the mailing address entered in myStudies.
The title of the Bachelor's degree is:
Bachelor of Science ETH in Mechanical Engineering (BSc ETH ME)
The shorter form „BSc ETH“ may be used.
The overall Grade Point Average of the Bachelor's degree according to the study regulation 2010 is composed of the weighted grade point average of the following grades:
