On Tuesday, 27 May 2014, the Focus Roll-out of the Focus-Projects 2013/2014 was held in the hall of the ETH main building. Swiss Radio SRF was present and reported on the event.
Hearty enthusiasm for beach art and ski touring
A robot that can create works of art in the sand and a ski-touring boot that facilitates natural movement: these are just two of eleven innovative ideas being presented by engineering students from ETH Zurich at the launch of this year’s focus projects.

Ten new professors at ETH Zurich
The ETH Board appointed ten new professors at ETH Zurich, among them Dr. Nicolas Noiray (*1981) as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Energy Technologies. He will be joining oure Department on 1 August 2014.
Poster Award at the Flow 14 Conference
Agnieszka Ladosz, Doctoral student with Prof. Philipp Rudolf von Rohr, won a Poster Award at the Flow 14 Conferenze on 18 to 21 May 2014 in Enschede, Netherlands.
Assistant Professor Energy Grants
Prof. Giovanni Sansavini was presented with the Assistant Professor Energy Grants by the Swiss National Science Foundation. He received CHF 660’000 to conduct a 4-year project on his research proposal “The Vulnerabilities of Future Interdependent Energy Networks”.
