New mentoring program launched
This fall the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering (D-MAVT) offers for the first time a mentoring program for female first-year students. Mentors and mentees were introduced to each other during an informal get together.
When starting university a whole new life begins. In order to make it easier for female students to find their way around the department with about 3,000 predominantly male students, a new mentoring program has been set up. Female Bachelor`s and Master`s students will support the newcomers as mentors.
At the start of the mentoring program, mentors and mentees got to know each other during an aperitif in the ML turbine hall on 17 October 2017. The head of the Student Administration, Maddalena Velonà, welcomed the students and Seraina Dual, PhD student at the Chair of Product Development & Engineering Design, and Alice Mylaeus, a mechanical engineering student and member of Ladies in Mechanical and Electrical Studies (LIMES), talked about their experiences. The evening was organized by D-MAVT together with LIMES.
