D-MAVT researchers on Forbes list

The US magazine Forbes has selected the 30 most influential people in Europe under the age of 30. They include Georgios Kelesidis, researcher at the Particle Technology Laboratory at ETH Zurich, and Matthias auf der Mauer, graduate of the ETH Master's program in Mechanical Engineering and CEO of the ETH spin-off AiSight.

external page Georgios Kelesidis is researching the dynamics and optical properties of carbonaceous nanoparticles. In one of his main research areas he is investigating the influence of soot on climate change. His findings indicate that soot could be the second largest cause of global warming after CO2. His work earned him the IBM Research Prize as early as 2017 and laid the foundation for his doctoral thesis. He says about his research: “It is my vision to understand the magic of nanostructured materials for advancing the quality of our life.”

Matthias auf der Mauer

After completing his studies at ETH Zurich, external page Matthias auf der Mauer built up a young company together with co-founder Maximilian von Düring. AiSight develops algorithms that can monitor industrial machinery, predict failures and thus increase productivity. “We aim to accomplish that the industrial world can always rely on their machines“, says auf der Mauer.
