Aldo Steinfeld's commitment to sustainability honored

Aldo Steinfeld, Head of the Renewable Energy Carriers Group at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich, has been awarded the Yogi and Lovely Goswami Achievement Award in Energy and Sustainability.

This award was bestowed by the US National Academy of Inventors (NAI) at their annual conference in June 2024 in Raleigh, North Carolina (USA). This newly established honor, The Yogi and Lovely Goswami Achievement Award, recognizes individuals who have made significant and enduring contributions in the field of Energy and Sustainability throughout their career. Steinfeld received the award for his work in sustainable energy solutions, particularly his development of Solar Refinery, a system that produces carbon-neutral fuel from sunlight and air.

Aldo Steinfeld has been a full professor at ETH Zurich since 1999 and is a member of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences. His research has led to the creation of two successful spin-offs: Climeworks, which specializes in CO2 capture technology, and Synhelion, which focuses on solar fuel production technology.
