For 26 years, Paolo Ermanni led the Laboratory for Composite Materials and Adaptive Structures at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH. Since his retirement in the summer of 2024, he has continued his work as CTO of his latest ETH spin-off, Antefil Composites Tech.

Paolo Ermanni received the award at the Conference on Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures, and Intelligent Systems (SMASIS), held from 9-11 September 2024, in Atlanta, U.S.. In his keynote at the conference, Ermanni spoke on “Lightweight adaptive systems: From heart to space!”.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was founded in 1880 and today has 140,000 members in 151 countries.
