Maini wins Swiss Physical Society Award
Lucrezia Maini has been awarded the Swiss Physical Society Award 2024 in the Computational Physics category for her doctoral research on acoustic metamaterials to measure temperature with ultrasound for implantable applications.
The award was presented on 10 September 2024 at the annual meeting of the Swiss Physical Society. Maini is a doctoral student at the Chair of Micro- and Nanosystems in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich. She receives the award in the field of computational physics for her excellent doctoral research based on her main publication in Nature Microsystems & Nanoengineering titled “An in vitro demonstration of a passive, acoustic metamaterial as a temperature sensor with mK resolution for implantable applications.“ Maini’s research was supervised by senior scientist Cosmin Roman and Professor Christofer Hierold. The award is sponsored by COSMOL.
