New professors at D-MAVT – for mobile robotics and solar energy technology

Stefan Leutenegger and Kent Warren have been appointed professors in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, effective 1 April 2025.

Stefan Leutenegger will become Associate Professor of Mobile Robotics at D-MAVT. He is currently Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. His research focuses on mobile robotics, especially aerial robotics, with an emphasis on navigation in unknown environments. He develops algorithms for processing image and sensor data to capture 3D structures and categorize them using machine learning. His appointment strengthens robotics research at D-MAVT and complements the new field of space technology.

Kent Warren has been appointed Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Solar Energy Technology at D-MAVT. He is currently a Research Associate at the University of Colorado in Boulder, USA, and Chief Science Officer and Co-Founder of OMC Thermochemistry. Warren researches thermochemical processes to harness solar energy, in particular the production of fuels from solar heat. His appointment strengthens D-MAVT’s research into solar energy.
