NOCTUA
Project
On average, 96 elephants and two rhinos are killed by poachers every day in Africa. Wildlife reserves find it challenging to protect their populations due to insufficient monitoring solutions. In the "NOCTUA" focus project, students are developing a quiet long-range drone for observing wildlife in Africa. The drone is designed to autonomously fly over large areas for up to 12 hours without disturbing the animals. The team collaborates closely with the Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Biology and the Kruger National Park in South Africa to develop a solution tailored to the needs of rangers in the reserves.
