At the Annual Meeting of the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering (SSBE) in Geneva in August, Kevin Bircher received the Research Award for his doctoral thesis at the Institute of Mechanical Systems at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering. For his work in the field of biomechanics, he researched the fracture behavior of soft collagen tissue. The topic of the thesis: "Comparative biomechanics: analysis of the deformation and fracture behavior of soft collagenous tissues".
