ASAIO Abstract Award for Magkoutas

Konstantinos Magkoutas, former postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Dynamic Systems and Control at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT), has been awarded the 2023 ASAIO Top Biomedical Engineering Abstract Award.

Magkoutas is honored with the award for his research on “Miniature Extravascular Aortic Sensor for Continuous Blood Pressure Measurement: In-vivo Validation Under Pathological Conditions”. He did his doctorate at the Product Development Group Zurich (Group of Professor Mirko Meboldt, D-MAVT), supervised by Senior Scientist Marianne Schmid Daners (D-MAVT) and Nikola Cesarovic (D-HEST, Group of Professor Volkmar Falk). The publication is part of the interdisciplinary project “Zurich Heart”.

The award was presented at the 68th Annual Conference of the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs (ASAIO) that took place in June 2023 in San Francisco, USA.
