Two focus projects receive funding from the D-MAVT Sustainability Fund
The focus projects MONKEE and ReefRanger will each receive CHF 10,000 from the Sustainability Fund of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT).
In focus projects, D-MAVT Bachelor students in their fifth and sixth semesters put their knowledge to practical use by transforming innovative technological approaches from research into functional prototypes. The MONKEE project is developing a climbing robot that can penetrate into the interior of treetops. The aim is to gain new insights into the forest climate and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. The ReefRanger team is developing an autonomous underwater robot to maintain coral farms and make their operation more efficient and scalable. In this way, the project contributes to the protection of endangered coral reefs and marine ecosystems.
The D-MAVT uses money from the sustainability fund to support projects and initiatives that reduce the department's ecological footprint or promote sustainability in other ways. Applications for funding can be submitted by all members and units of the department. The fund is financed by compensation fees for CO₂ emissions caused by air travel by D-MAVT employees.
